Preventative Dentistry
To give your teeth the best defence against decay you should have an oral hygiene appointment and dental examination every six months. Regular cleaning and exams let us detect the early signs of cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer. Early detection lets us begin treatment right away and gives you the best chance at a good outcome.

Oral hygiene and cleaning
Our hygienists will remove tartar and plaque from your teeth to prevent bacteria from building up and causing an infection. Tartar is extremely hard and can’t be removed with regular brushing and flossing, so it needs to be regularly removed with special tools.
The hygienist may also polish your teeth and provide a fluoride treatment to harden your enamel and prevent cavities.
Dental examination
Your dentist will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth to check for signs of decay, gum disease, and injury. We may take X-rays as part of the examination.
Oral cancer screening
During your dental examination we’ll also check your mouth and neck for signs of oral cancer. Oral cancer affects thousands of Canadians each year and can be deadly if it isn’t detected early.
