Wisdom Teeth Removal
Children’s wisdom teeth are usually removed in the late teens. These large molars are the last adult teeth to grow in. In many cases there isn’t enough room for the wisdom teeth to emerge properly and they begin to impact the other molars or they become misaligned. When this happens, the wisdom teeth are surgically removed.
As your teen grows older we’ll monitor their development of their wisdom teeth. If we determine that the wisdom teeth aren’t growing correctly, we’ll recommend having them removed.
Wisdom teeth removal is a surgical procedure. We make incisions in the gums near the four wisdom teeth and then remove the teeth. After each tooth is removed we close the incisions with sutures.
After surgery you may experience pain and swelling. We’ll provide you with advice on how to minimize discomfort as you heal.
